I received an ARC of this title in exchange for an honest review.
The Loathing is the second instalment of the Illicit Love series and follows the story of Amora Archibald and Titus King and is one of my favourite reads from Ashlee Rose.
In order to get an understanding of the story, you first have to read Savage Love (Amora’s parents story), Dear Heart, You Screwed Me (Killian, Reese & Connie) & The Resentment (Kaleb & Connie) just to get a background on the characters and their stories. All available on KU and highly recommended.
The story begins with Titus expecting Amora to arrive in the US for him to keep her safe from some shady guys her dad screwed over. At the last minute, the plan changes and Titus has to go to the UK instead to be her bodyguard. Now he believes he is looking after a 21-year-old who has a target on her back due to her dads shady dealings, resulting in the death of the wrong person and now the family are out for blood and they want repayment in the form of Amoras hand in marriage as she is “pure”. She has two older brothers and a dad that everyone is fearful of so of course, she’s a virgin heroine who has never even been kissed and it’s not for anything other than her brothers and dad have been so overprotective. So what could possibly go wrong when this perfect mix of her parents meets her hot as anything bodyguard?
In this age-gap, virgin heroine romance we are taken on a rollercoaster of emotions and the main emotion throughout the book is love. Love between a husband and wife, a father and daughter and a girl and her bodyguard. Love really does conquer all and this is one of my favourite reads from Ashlee. The journey the characters go on is gripping and had me hooked from day one. I am so excited to read the rest of the entire Illicit Love series and can’t wait for the next one!
I could not put this book down which seems to be a running theme for me whenever I read something from Ashlee Rose. All in all I loved this book, it was emotive, it had be anxious and full of adrenaline, I was rushing through the pages hoping that what I wanted to happen would come true and as usual Ashlee did not disappoint. I fell in love with reading all over again after reading Dear Heart, You Screwed Me and I love this universe that has been created and the characters that live and thrive inside it.
If you want a love story with twists and turns that keep you hooked in, then this is the book for you and you can find the paperback and kindle versions at the links below:
